Long-distance runner Samsad Ara Begum, shot putter Anshika Routray and long jumer Manisha Merel established new meet records on the opening day of the 67th Odisha State Athletics Meet at Barabati Stadium here today.
Olympian Dutee Chand and National record holder Amiya Kumar Mallick emerged fastest woman and man of the meet, winning gold medal in respective 100m sprint events.
Sports & Youth Services Minister Tusharkanti Behera inaugurated the three-day meet in the presence of Odisha Athletic Association secretary Asirbad Behera. Around 1600 athletes joined the meet.

BOYS-14: 100m Run: 1. Dula Madhi, Malkangiri (12.0s), 2. Laxmidhar Pradhan, Keonjhar (12.2s), 3. Chinmaya Nag, Bolangir (12.4s). Triathlon: 1. Keshab Gamanga, Bhubaneswar (1713pts), 2. Bhima Sadar, Bhubaneswar (1507p), 3. Shankha Soren, Mayurbhanj (1504p).
